Encyclical Formation 3
The Spirit of Truth and conversion
Dominum Et Vivificantem (DV), 44
“Man, therefore, far from allowing himself to be “ensnared” in his sinful condition, by relying upon the voice of his own conscience “is obliged to wrestle constantly if he is to cling to what is good. Nor can he achieve his own interior integrity without valiant efforts and the help of God s grace.” The Spirit of truth comes into contact with this laborious effort of conscience which determines the paths of human conversion”
In short, Saint John Paul II is teaching us that without the Spirit of Truth, God’s sanctifying grace, we would not have the ability of conversion. Yet our conscience must be aware and acknowledge our suffering. As a disciple of Christ, today you most likely will encounter suffering. Respond in ‘The Spirit’.
Pray: Come Holy Spirit. Lead me into conversion.
