Day 3
“The Holy Spirit enters human suffering with a new outpouring love, which will redeem the world”
Encyclical: “The Holy Spirit in the Life of the Church and the World”
Saint John Paul II
Formation Introduction
How many Catholics do you know that talk about the Sacrament of Reconciliation as a place and time where they go and acknowledge their ‘sin’s’, pray their penance, and move on with their lives. So often, many of those same people experience the same sin with no real conversion or healing. It is as if they have accepted the sin and think the action of ‘going to confession’ is what God desires. Do you think this is what God had in mind when he provided for us his grace through the Holy Spirit?
Today Saint John Paul II engages us about the Holy Spirit as our ‘Counselor and Spirit of truth’. It is as if he is challenging us to make sure we realize the importance of the Holy Spirit for our salvation. Our salvation is God’s will for us. Jesus Christ is the one who He sent to show us ‘the way’ to salvation. The Holy Spirit is the one who sanctifies our lives. As Saint John Paul II tells us, the Holy Spirit “enters into human and cosmic suffering with a new outpouring of love, which will redeem the world”. Disciples follow Jesus Christ because they desire salvation and desire to be on mission to bring this to others. I encourage you to seek a more intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit today to sanctify your life.
