Reflection 5: “Mary’s Motherhood”
Encyclical Redemptoris Mater “Mother of the Redeemer”

Reflection Introduction
Today’s short journey will provide a few reflections on the ‘motherhood’ of Mary in our lives. At the foot of his cross, Jesus gives to us our mother. [“Behold your mother” Jn 19:27]. This is a crucial directive of Christ for us as his disciples to spiritually understand. His words and action has a significant and impactful meaning for our journey of salvation. As we have learned from this encyclical, Mary has been entrusted with the ‘fullness of Grace’ to ‘cooperate’ in God’s salvific plan. Not only does God provide for us his son, but through his son, he also provides to us our Mother of ‘maternal charity’. So let us now begin our reflection with our spiritual mother to experience her ‘maternal charity’ and how we called by Christ to grow in her trust.
Today’s three points for reflection.
Reflection 1: Mary’s maternal love ‘cooperates’ with our salvation.
Reflection 2: Mary’s ‘motherhood’
Reflection 3: Mary’s ‘maternal charity’ for our lives.
